RCA Console Find

I came upon a 60's vintage RCA console stereo model VFR19M. It has stereo turntable and tape input as well as mono FM and AM radio. The circuitry is quite interesting and will require a lot of thought on my part to decipher parts of it. I am pretty ignorant of the radio parts in particular.

A very kind gentleman on the DIYaudio board was able to provide a short service document including a schematic amd PCB (yes it is new enough to use on of those infernal things) layout.

Here are some pictures of the unit. Abbey always has to have her nose in everything, but she is so lovable. :) Though the unit is stereo the FM tuner is mono only. They just added one more PCB to this unit to make a stereo one.

The fourth picture there is the power amp chassis. It is a bit unusual in that there are no driver tubes. The preamp tuner board has a final 12AX7 that drives the output tubes. The sixth picture is the tuner preamp chassis. There is a lot of stuff there but experts tell me a lot of corners were cut to save money so a total ground up DIY AM tuner project is in the cards using parts from this unit.
